I haven't submitted my song specific styles yet... Shame on me.
But because I'm starting from a factory one, I want them to be very clean with mixing embended (not at the rgt level), unused parts deleted and somewhat documentend.
Is there a way to add comments on witch part does what for the song?

Example:
A is for verse 1
B for verse 2
I2 for bridge (play chords)
C for chorus
D for ad lib
I3 for breakdown (hold rootchord througout)
Etc...

I sometimes use intros, well, not for intros, to add a 5th or 6th part to the song, it's getting complicated to use without guidelines. (for complex songs, even for myself, I write a txt to be displayed on the genos screen for that purpose)

igbro Thank you! Yeah that's a great point that I also was thinking about how to approach. We need some guides how to play a style, when to switch sections, when to use fills and breaks, etc. Partially this can be solved by accepting registrations (which we should add), but it still wouldn't be clear when to switch them (and registrations are not universal).

Currently I am thinking we need to come up with an extended chord notation that also lists sections, so instead of Am Dm Gm we will have {IntroA} Am Dm {MainA} Gm {Break} etc, and then it can be all conveniently wrapped into XF file (hopefully also instantly transferred) so you can see all those chords and instructions right on your screen, that would be amazing.

Not sure how soon we get to it but it is definitely something I am really interested in solving, as personally I can't play by ear and need some music notation, without which styles are pretty useless to me. We probably should start a separated thread about it, there are lots of open issues to brainstorm.

FabiOh Interesting, thank you. Looks like they propose to specify the chord duration in brackets, which I like. The style switching syntax is a bit too verbose though, I think it should be placed inline between the chords.

I think we would need something pretty similar.

Or we can go the visual editor route and have you just interactively enter chords and melody into some sort of piano roll. I think the HookTheory approach would fit really well (we have some examples on the site, can see it under Abba songs). They split songs into sections, sections have chords and simple melody, which is exactly what we are after.
