Wrong "Dancing on the ceiling"

Dancing on the ceiling is example of two songs with the same name. The best known (I think) is the one written by Lionel Richie. But as i discovered, there is another one written by Richard Rogers and sung by Frank Sinatra. The first one is listed here, but the styles is for the second one. The styles is VocalFoxtrot and Slowfox, that suites Sinatra-style, but not Lionel Richie's uptempo song.

So I rated the first one "VocalFoxtrot Genos2" 1 for Fits song, and 5 for Overall Quality. I could not rate the other versions for some reason. "VocalFoxtrot" is a factory style in Genos2 and is linked to the Richard Rodgers song.

I look forward to being able to comment on the styles page itself. The original uploader should then get a message, so the error can be corrected.

jenygard Thank you! Yeah there are probably quite a few cases like this. When I was initially linking factory styles to songs based on musicfinder they didn't have artists, so I used different methods to find artists by a song name, but in cases like these where the same song name is used by different artists I could have grabbed the wrong one.

I don't see your votes for some reason, maybe there is really some issue with voting. Can you paste a link to the page where you voted. Also in that case where you couldn't vote, what happened, was there an error? Or was the rating applied (starts became pink and the rating counter increased) but then got reverted after the page refresh?

Actually I just didn't notice your ratings because I paint low star grey (probably a bad idea).

We definitely need some better moderation tools, and it's on my todo list. Besides relying on a rating we probably also need some "report a problem" button for cases like this where it's straight up a mistake (misspelled artist, wrong song, etc). But for now if you notice any problems just post them on the forum and I will try to take care of them on an individual basis.

You can see that I have rated the first one 1 star. The second one (without Revo Drums) have the same name as the first one, so when I click on the rating both change simultaneously. When I rate the third one, which have part of the same name, it also changes the rating on the first one. It seems like the rating for each style is not isolated from the others, if they shares name or part of it. A bug obviously.

Thanks for posting Jenygard, You've solved a problem I didn't know I had! I've been sorting out duplicate style files this afternoon and found four entitled Dancing On The Ceiling. One was difinitely not Lionel Richie so I deleted it. I assumed I had mis titled the file. I had no idea it was also a Frank Sinatra song!

Stevie I didn't know either. I found out by chance, when I couldn't get the style to fit the Lionel Richie melody. 😀
