It was brought up couple times in other threads that people have large amount of styles they are willing to contribute, but currently there is no easy way to do it except upload them one by one.

Allowing bulk uploads is not a problem, the problem is how to attach metadata (like artist, song, keyboard model) to styles in bulk. Asking users to also provide something like an accompanying spreadsheet with song names is probably not going to fly, putting together such spreadsheet would be just as tedious.

I also don't want to just allow uploading styles without any extra metadata as it would defeat the whole purpose of this site and we will go back to a huge dump of random styles of unknown origin.

I was thinking of creating a separated section on the site acting something like a style "dumpster" where users can dump all their styles without any metadata. And then the hope is others will be digging through this pile and gradually adding metadata. Once we have enough info about a style it can be moved out of the dumpster.

This way if someone just wants to contribute large amounts of styles but doesn't have time to organize them they can still do it, and the burden of organizing styles gets shared among users who will be enjoying these styles, which sounds fair.

I feel like this is probably what stops most people from sharing their styles using the current upload form, which works ok if you have couple styles to share, but submitting 100s of files this way would be unreasonably tedious.

I think this is probably the next feature we need to implement (which shouldn't take that long). What do you think?

You are quite right. This would clearly counter the purpose of this project.
There would be piles or bulk of styles in a quantity that would be impossible to categorize. However, it would make sense to prepare the upload of several styles from a person with a spreadsheet in which the desired category entries could be entered in columns.
This spreadsheet could be converted into individual entries with the category entries by a batch sub-program. However, there should be an upper limit for entries using a batch function. This would prevent thousands of entries from making the list unusable.

What I also noticed is that spelling mistakes cannot be corrected or edited entries cannot be deleted. This is a pity, as it results in many incorrect entries.

There are 3000-4000 styles, songs and artists included. Where does this data actually come from?
I was able to determine that they could come from the published spreadsheets (see the video on this, where a wide variety of databases were shown), e.g. from “XNX”. Perhaps it would be useful to mention the origin creators, I think that would be important and would could give credits to them.

Unfortunately, there is no email address for the StylePlayer administrator to make individual inquiries or postings not published in the community forum. In my opinion, this is not user-friendly, as there are topics too that are individual between administrator and the Emailer. I would be grateful you change that.

Hope I'll get an answer in due time.

    Runner4Fun50 Hi Klaus,
Current artists and songs are populated from the official yamaha playlists, they had the song names but no artists, so I populated the artists myself using different techniques (chatgpt, google, elbow grease). So there could be mistakes and misspellings and we totally need a way for the users to be able to correct them, that's high on my todo list, so please be patient, it's coming soon.

If you want to send me a private email it's listed in the footer on the main site: contact@styleplayer.io

    Thank you.

Thank you for your quick answer.
I am looking forward for your result implementimg it.

How shall I name you ? StylePlayer isn't that I like, your pre-name would be much appreciated.
